One of the generally accepted principles of calculating the correct blanket weight is to take 10% of the users body weight and then add a pound. eg - if you have a child that weighs 5 stone this equate to 70lbs (5 x 14). Take 10% of 70lbs = 7 add a further 1 = 8lb blanket

Our research and experience have shown that this method gives a blanket that is heavy enough to be effective, but not too heavy so as to be uncomfortable to use. The table below gives us a guide to blanket weights, however we must stress that it is a guide only and you should consult with your healthcare proffesional as the weight of the blanket is crucial to effectiveness.
