Our adult Weighted Jackets are a discreet way of providing deep pressure to the body to provide a "calming and organising" effect on the body's proprioceptive system, helping to reduce anxiety, aid focus and reduce hyperactivity.
Occupational Therapists commonly recommend Weighted Jackets for those with an autism diagnosis, ADHD, sensory and learning difficulties.
How they work:
- Weights are sewn into reinforced pouches and are interchangeable for maximum safety, comfort and easy washing.
- The Weighted Jacket has inner "pockets" - 2 on the shoulders and 5 around the torso. The rectangular weights are for the shoulder area and the square weights are for the waist area.

Important:
- Recommended not to exceed 5% of the user's bodyweight (unless advised by an OT).
- Wear for 20-40 minutes at a time.
- Remove weights before washing.
Good to know:
- Weights can be added or removed as needed.
- Machine washable 40°C.
Weighted Jackets can benefit those who:
- have an autism diagnosis, ADHD, sensory processing disorder.
- appear hyperactive and/or excessive shifting in their seat.
- have a short attention span and are easily distracted.
- show tactile sensitivity - i.e. need to touch everything or are resistant to touch.
- have poor awareness of their body and body position.
- display self stimulatory behaviour such as rocking, twirling and chewing.
WARNINGS:

UK Designed & Made
Our new Weighted Jackets are an alternative to fleece and are made of a soft, durable "shell" fabric with a cotton lining containing 7 weight pockets. The shell outer is stylish and easy to wash. The jacket has a fleece inner collar for comfort and two waist pockets.
The shoulder pockets allow weight to be placed where it is really needed and most effective giving the effect of someone pressing down gently on the shoulders - which is both effective and comfortable for the wearer. The weights around the middle allow additional weight to be evenly distributed as required. It is recommended that the Jacket is worn for 20-40 minutes at a time.

This product is eligible for VAT relief and can be purchased free from VAT.
- If you have a disability or a chronic medical condition you can claim VAT relief on certain eligible products provided the products are purchased for personal or domestic use.
- If you are a parent or carer you can claim VAT relief on behalf of a child or person you look after.
- Charities can qualify for VAT relief where these conditions are met.

ON RECEIPT OF YOUR ORDER
On receipt of your order please open all packages and thoroughly check for missing or damaged products as soon as possible. You must notify Sensory Direct of any missing or damaged products within 3 days of the delivery. If we are not notified of missing or damaged products within 3 days we are unable to claim from the Courier and we will be unable to refund or replace the missing or damaged products. If the packaging appears damaged and you do not have time to check the products you should sign the Courier's paperwork and add the word "Damaged".
Non-receipt of your order must be notified to Sensory Direct within 7 days of notification of despatch.
DELIVERY
If all items are in stock we aim to despatch your order the same working day (Monday to Friday) when placed before 2pm. For larger orders and School Purchase Orders despatch times may vary.
Sensory Direct’s Weighted Blankets, Weighted Jackets, Shoulder Wraps, Lap Pads and other handmade products may take 3-5 working days to be despatched, if not in stock.
- Delivery is FREE for online orders of £45 and above within Mainland UK (excluding Highlands, Offshore Islands and Northern Ireland).
- Mainland UK delivery charges are £5.95 for Courier delivery for orders under £45. (See FAQs for Courier Estimated Delivery Times).
- Some larger products may be delivered directly from the manufacturer. Delivery times may vary. Please ensure someone is available to accept your delivery during the indicated delivery times, as a redelivery fee may be applied if no one is present.
- Please note that once an order has been placed the delivery address cannot be changed.
- Please note we cannot deliver to a PO Box address.
- We are currently unable to ship outside of the UK unless you hold a trade account with us.

Christmas Returns Policy
We want to give our customers peace of mind that all eligible products purchased between 1st November 2025 and 25th December 2025 can be returned or exchanged until 31st January 2026.
Customers simply need to return the product(s) in the original re-sellable condition together with the completed Returns Form.
Please note this excludes reporting missing or damaged products which must be reported within 3 working days, so please ensure you open and check your order when it arrives.

Returns of sale products must be within 14 days of receipt.

Our Story
When my son was born with autism, my world changed and Sensory Direct was born
Ethan had been prescribed different forms of medication, and although they helped a little, I didn’t want to become reliant upon them, so Ethan’s Paediatric Consultant suggested a Weighted Blanket. I remember hearing this and thinking ‘what on earth is a Weighted Blanket’? At this stage I was blissfully unaware of how life changing that Weighted Blanket would become.
