Sensory Direct's Wipe Clean Weighted Lap Pads are designed to apply calming deep pressure to the lap, upper legs, hips or pelvis whilst the user is sitting down. The weight is provided by plastic beads sewn into small individual cells that mould themselves to the body or legs.

The user experiences the deep pressure from the weight of the Lap Pad which has a calming effect helping attention span, reducing excessive fidgeting and easing anxiety. 

• Made from water resistant, wipe clean material (BS 5852 Part 1 rated).

The size of the Weighted Lap Pad ensures it is a cost effective, safe and portable tool, making them ideal for use in the classroom, at reading time, at the dinner table, in the car or whenever and wherever needed.

Available in two weights:

• 1kg for younger children (approximate product dimensions of (L) 60cm x (W) 30cm).
• 2kg for older children, teens and adults (approximate product dimensions of (L) 66cm x (W) 51cm).

Wobble Cushion (click here to see more details)

How does it work?:

• If the user sits on the cushion they will instantly become unstable (they will wobble!) and are encouraged to engage their back and core muscles.
• Ideal for encouraging 'active sitting' for children and can be particularly effective for kids with ADHD. 
• Sitting on a wobble cushion is similar to sitting on a therapy ball – only smaller, portable and more convenient. 
• The instability engages the core muscles improving posture and core stability.  
• The wobble effect makes sensory seeking user focus on how they sit, reducing fidgeting and helping to improve focus on the task in hand.
• The cushion can be used on a chair or on the floor.

How it works:

• The wedge shape encourages a seated posture with a forward pelvic position and the movement makes the user feel off balance if not sitting correctly.
• It can also be used upright in any chair as a back support or on the floor.
• They improve posture and allow a certain amount of 'wiggling' around without having to get off the chair.

Good for:

• These inflatable wedge shaped seating cushions are especially popular for more hyperactive children in school, where they are expected to stay sitting for a long time.
• The wedge shape helps balance, encourages proper sitting and correct posture.
• Smooth on one side and has a “bumpy” tactile side on the other.
• Beneficial for those with poor body awareness and low muscle tone.
• The cushion can also be used at home or at school, on a seat or on the floor.
